Bio
My approach to clinical work is to understand a person's goals and to help them utilize their own strengths and self-awareness to move towards the accomplishment they have identified wanting to pursue.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker having joined RIT's CaPS in August 2019 with 20+ years of clinical experience. I earned my MSW from Syracuse University. In addition, I have paired a MPA (Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse U), with a focus on Non-Profit administration to align my practice with my professional and personal values of Social Justice, Equality, ending disparities & addressing treatment access concerns to quality clinical services regardless of what identities and their intersectionality each individual may have.
I consider myself an ally to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities with a personal investment to address and eliminate oppression and barriers that exist within our antiquated social hierarchies. A major portion of my clinical work has centered on relationship work through sessions in short-term and long term clinical relationships. Providing information on effective communication, solutions to conflict, stop/interrupt cycles of relationship violence; Process addictions: Assisting individuals to improve their mental wellness by addressing symptoms of adjustment, anxiety and mood through individual/group work with a foundation in Modern Psychoanalytic practice for awareness on Family of Origin experiences through a trauma informed lens.
I identify as a cis-gender man with preferred pronouns, he/him/his. I enjoy sports and the outdoors having grown up in the (not too far from) Rochester area benefiting from the many parks and natural resources surrounding the area. I look forward to meeting with you and determining the route to help you be your best self.
