Bio

She/Her/Hers

Shantel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University. Over the course of her career, Shantel has worked with students ranging from middle school through college, gaining a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by young adults and supporting them in navigating these transitions.

Shantel specializes in supporting students from oppressed and marginalized backgrounds. She is sensitive to how intersectionality shapes individual experiences and is deeply committed to social justice and advocacy.

Her clinical interests include sexual assault, self-esteem, identity development, phases of life, relationship issues, and family dynamics. Besides for providing individual therapy, Shantel also co-facilitates EmpowHER, which is a safe space centered on the experiences of Black women and nonbinary students.

Shantel also serves as the Outreach Programming Coordinator, acting as a liaison for campus partners and developing mental health programs for the broader campus community.

Outside of work, Shantel loves to spend quality time with her family and try new activities together. Shantel also likes to read, watch documentaries, and listen to podcasts.
