Women in Business Club at RIT Croatia: A year of empowerment and growth

The Women in Business Club at RIT Croatia’s Zagreb campus recently celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of impactful initiatives and community building. With 126 members, it's one of the most active student organizations on campus, fostering a supportive and empowering space for women in business.

A Vision of Empowerment and Growth

Leonela Krajač, the club's president and a Global Business Management/IB student, founded the club to create an inclusive space for women to pursue entrepreneurship and leadership. The club promotes women's entrepreneurship through education and real-world experience, highlights successful women-led businesses, and builds a supportive female community. Leonela clarified, "We are NOT a feminist club but rather a learning platform." This inclusive approach has attracted significant male support, with 10 male students regularly participating.

Positive Impact on Campus and Beyond

The club's first year featured dynamic events, including professional development workshops, networking events, and collaborations with RIT Croatia faculty. These initiatives have significantly impacted RIT Croatia's campus culture, fostering an inclusive environment. Members have enhanced their networking, leadership, and professional skills. Testimonials include a student gaining confidence for her first interview through CV and LinkedIn workshops and another benefiting from a mindset workshop for stress management.

Future Goals and Expansion

The club has ambitious plans, including a public Women’s Day conference with panels and guest speakers, aiming to connect with students beyond RIT Croatia. They also seek to strengthen ties with the RIT campus in Rochester, NY, USA, and the newly launched Women in Business Club at RIT Croatia’s Dubrovnik campus, directly inspired by the Zagreb club's success. Leonela is excited about potential collaborations between the campuses.

Leadership Lessons and RIT Croatia’s Role

Leading the club has been transformative for Leonela, who learned to delegate and trust her team. She's developed leadership and time management skills, achieving a better work-life balance. RIT Croatia's support, including faculty mentorship and funding, has been crucial for the club's growth and ability to organize high-impact events.

Building a Legacy of Inspiration and Connection

As the club enters its second year, Leonela hopes it continues to empower and support members. She envisions a legacy of empowerment, inclusivity, and real-world learning for future generations of women at RIT Croatia. Her advice to aspiring club founders: "Trust your instincts and go for it. If you believe in your mission, others will too." The Women in Business Club has already made a significant mark and promises to be a lasting source of inspiration for women leaders.
