The ability to see through body tissue may sound like something from a science fiction movie, but a start-up company in RIT’s Venture Creations business incubator has developed a device that makes this possible.

Recognizing the need to educate the next generation of leaders in graphic media, Barbieri Electronics generously donated an LFP-qb Textile Edition to the graphic media programs in the Department of Packaging and Graphic Media Science.

The Today Show features Melissa Keomoungkhoun ’15 (advertising and public relations), ’16 MS (hospitality tourism management) and Victor Montiel ’17 (packaging science) and their experience at the restaurant Tatsu Dallas.

This fall, Rebecca Oesterle ’09 MS (packaging science) was one of four industry leaders inducted into the Packaging and Processing Hall of Fame, for contributions to the industry and education over her 40 plus-year career at Energizer, and at Just Born Quality Confections.

RIT alumnus and trustee Brooks Bower ’74 (printing) has made a gift to the multi-use complex under construction that will showcase the university as a place for technology, the arts, and design.

This change comes about to further address the interdisciplinary trends and growth taking place in both the evolving print and packaging industries. It reflects the college and RIT’s focus on aligning programs to better provide a highly skilled workforce for each area.

Jason Aymerich BS ’00 is president of JN White and is being honored by the College of Engineering Technology.

Robert Eller, research professor emeritus in RIT’s College of Engineering Technology, was recently honored by the Gravure Cylinder Society as a member of the class of 2021. Recognized for his research in reinventing the gravure cylinder—the image carrier in gravure printing— Eller was formally inducted into the national society in April.

Undergraduates in the Typography and Page Design class placed first and second in the annual Canon Solutions America collegiate design challenge. It was the second year students from the Graphic Media Science and Technology program competed in the event—and the second year they took top placements.

GMG Color recently donated one of its high-end color management software systems, ColorProof, to RIT. The system will be used as part of classroom instruction and research projects based in RIT’s Department of Graphic Media Sciences and Technology to better evaluate color quality prior to print production.
