  • This permit is not valid in other campus lots during restricted hours.

General permits allow parking in multiple parking lots across campus including A, B, C, D*, F*, G, H, J*, K, L, N, S*, T and Global Village lot.
*Please note: D, F, J and S lots contain both general and reserved parking.  Be sure to check signs for reserved rows and ensure you are parking in the area allowed by your permit.

Reserved permits allow parking in designated lots and areas closer to campus buildings. These permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cost more due to their premium location. Reserved permits also allow parking in any general lot on campus. If a reserved lot does not appear as an option during purchase, you may join the waitlist for that lot in your parking account. Learn how to join a waitlist.

Restrictions for Park Point, The Province, and Apex
Students who live at Park Point, The Province, Apex are not eligible to purchase an RIT parking permit. These residents cannot park on campus between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless they pay for parking using ParkMobile.

RIT shuttles are free and run regularly between campus and Park Point and The Province.

Apex has chosen to discontinue its transportation partnership with the university. This decision comes despite RIT’s proactive efforts to preserve the relationship, including a comprehensive offer to fully manage the shuttle service. We encourage anyone with questions about Apex’s future plans to contact them directly at 585-565-4600.

Accessible Parking

Accessible spaces are available in every campus lot and meet ADA requirements. To park in accessible spaces on campus, you must display both a state-issued accessible parking placard or plate and have a valid RIT parking permit. If you’re waiting for a state-issued placard, RIT’s Parking Office can issue a temporary accessible permit valid for one week. To apply, and submit the Service Request for an Accessible Parking Permit.

Unauthorized use of accessible parking spaces is a serious violation of federal, state, and RIT regulations. Vehicles parked without proper authorization will be ticketed and may be towed at the owner's expense.

Motorcycle Parking

Motorcycles must be parked either in designated motorcycle parking areas or in regular parking spaces.

Permanent motorcycle parking is available in lots C, L, and E for commuter students. From April 1 through October 31, additional temporary motorcycle parking is offered in lots C, D, F, J, S, L, M, and T. These temporary spots are clearly marked with signs.

Electric Vehicle Parking

RIT offers Level II EV charging stations in D, L, M and T lots for commuter students. You must have a valid parking permit and park according to your permit when you’re not charging. Anyone with an electric vehicle can use these stations by paying for ParkMobile. Rates are $0.50 per hour for the first four hours, then $4 per hour afterward. To make sure everyone has a chance to charge, please limit your charging session to four hours. After charging, move your vehicle to a space that matches your permit or a ParkMobile zone.

Visitors need a valid visitor pass or ParkMobile session to use the stations. Some chargers are part of the ChargePoint network, which requires a free account and card to activate.

Resident students can use the chargers too, but trickle charging EVs at apartment complexes is not allowed.

Special Exemption Permit

In limited circumstances, students living at Park Point, The Province, or The Apex may apply for a Special Exemption Permit that allows for daytime on-campus parking. Applicants must submit a written statement explaining why the campus shuttle is not a viable option, along with supporting documentation such as class and work schedules and a letter of employment or verification from a supervisor. Approval is not guaranteed, and each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Parking Office.
