Move-In Dates

Monday, August 17, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Tuesday, August 18, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

 

Summer Vestibule Program (SVP) Move in: Sunday, August 9, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. 

**SVP students will not select a move in appointment time. All questions can be emailed to ntidsvp@rit.edu.

 

Incoming student move-in is by appointment only.

All incoming students living in RIT housing are required to select a move-in appointment time prior to arriving on campus.

Access to select a move-in appointment time is only given to students who have submitted their RIT student ID card photo.  Please submit your photo immediately as it must go through an approval process.

 Make Your Appointment

  • Use the button above to navigate to the myLife portal
  • Login using your RIT username and password
  • Click on the Housing Application button
  • Click on the 26-27 Application Year
  • Navigate to "Next Steps"
  • Click on Move-In Appointment Time Info in the dropdown menu
  • Select an appointment time to move-in

Time slots are essential to alleviate congestion and ensure students and families have adequate time to unload vehicles and transport items to their rooms.

Pre-Arrival to Campus

Pre-arrival checklist

  • Move-In Appointment
  • Photo ID (examples: driver's license, passport, state ID, high school ID) 
  • Move-In Dashboard Pass

You must have a photo ID in order to be issued your RIT housing key and receive your RIT student ID.

Access your room assignment, roommate information, meal plan, and mailing address under My Assignment in the myLife portal.

Print your Move In Dashboard Pass by going to MyLife > My Assignment page > My Move-in button. 

Arrival

Check-In and Key Pick-Up

Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass under your windshield wiper or on your dashboard upon your arrival to campus.  

Key Pick Up Location

  • Residence Hall students will check in and pick up their key and RIT ID in Lots G and H.
  • RIT Inn students will check in and pick up their key and RIT ID at the front desk of the RIT Inn.

Late Arrivals

If you experience travel difficulties on the day of your appointment that impact your ability to arrive during your appointment time and arrive move in time, Please check in at the locations listed below:

  • Residence Hall students will check in and pick up their key and RIT ID in the RIT Housing office located in Grace Watson Hall
  • RIT Inn students will check in and pick up their key and RIT ID at the front desk of the RIT Inn.

If you arrive after 11 p.m., you will be required to locate alternative housing for the night at a local hotel.

Move-In

Process for students living in the residence halls:

  • Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass printed and displayed upon your arrival to campus.
  • Once you check in and pick up your housing key and your RIT ID, you will exit Lots G and H and proceed to your drop zone location. Please check your Move-In Dashboard Pass to determine the color of your drop zone. On-campus signage will direct you to the corresponding drop zone to begin your move-in process.  
  • Download your drop zone map under printable resources below to help you navigate where you will unload your luggage.

Important Information:

  • Students are encouraged to limit the number of guests who assist with the move-in process.
  • Students do not need to be completely moved in before the end of their appointment time.
  • Carts will be available at the residence halls drop zones and at the RIT Inn. 
  • Once your vehicle is unloaded, you will be asked to move to a designated parking area.
