How to Apply
Any student who submits an RIT housing contract for the academic year with an expected fall semester move‑in date is financially responsible for that contract unless it is canceled through myLife.rit.edu within the applicable cancellation window.
Students who determine that they no longer require RIT housing must cancel their contract prior to the first day of fall semester classes or their scheduled fall move‑in date (whichever occurs first). Cancellation fees are assessed based on the date of cancellation, in accordance with Section 1.05 of the Housing Terms and Conditions.
Assignments are made from now until the beginning of the semester on a rolling basis. Your preferences are taken into consideration but not guaranteed as we work to assign students based on space availability. Once you are assigned, you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to view your room and roommate details.
Go to: myLife.rit.edu
- On the RIT authentication page, enter your RIT computer account username and password; then click Log In.
- On the home page, click Housing Application button
- Select the 26-27 Academic Year
RIT Housing contracts are for the full academic year.
- Global Scholars who are approved to study at the Rochester campus for only the fall semester or only the spring semester will not be charged a contract termination fee at the conclusion of their approved semester.
- Global Scholars who are approved for fall-only participation and later extend their enrollment to remain on the Rochester campus for the spring semester will then be considered bound to the full academic year housing contract. If a student in this situation moves off campus during or at the conclusion of the spring semester, a contract termination fee will apply.
**Your computer account signature is your RIT Username in either of the following formats: xx#### or xxx####. This part of the contract must be signed before I can begin to process your application and assign you.

FAQ's
Once you’ve been admitted to the Global Scholar program or as an Exchange student, you will receive communication from the housing office when you are able to access myLife.rit.edu to submit your housing and dining applications. A meal plan is required if you are assigned to the residence halls, 175 Jefferson, or the RIT Inn, and one will be automatically applied to your account. The RIT Global office can assist you with selecting an optional meal plan if you are assigned to a location other than those listed above.
Single means it is a private bedroom within a suite/apartment and double means a shared bedroom with another student/roommate.
If you agree to live co-ed, this means that you’re saying you’re okay living with students of the opposite gender. There may be a shared bathroom for males and females within the apartment/suite.
If you choose to live off campus, you do not need to complete the housing application. Once you receive the RIT Housing email with instructions, please notify Matt Kowalski (mjkapt@rit.edu) and RIT Global (ritglobal@rit.edu) that you plan to live off campus.
The International Student Services website includes a section on off-campus housing that you may find useful: https://www.rit.edu/iss/living-rochester#off-campus-housing

Transportation from airports/train stations/bus stations to RIT’s campus is not offered by RIT Housing. Please reach out to inquire about arrival transportation for international students.
Yes, as a Global Scholar and exchange student, the RIT Global office provides you with a large bag of brand-new linens. When you pick up your key at the Housing office, make sure to let the person checking you in know that you are picking up a Global Scholar linen bag, so they can give it to you.
Everything in the bag, including the bag itself, is yours to keep. Before leaving RIT, please make sure to dispose of the items yourself and do not leave them in your room.
If you are leaving at the end of the Spring semester, please consider donating them to the Goodbye, Goodbuy sale.
