Museum Studies (MUSE) Lab

Museum Studies (MUSE) Lab is the premier workspace dedicated to experiential learning for MUSE majors as they build practical skills in curating, interpreting, managing, digitizing, exhibiting, and making cultural collections accessible to public audiences. The lab supports our undergrad degree program’s emphasis on a technology-infused, collections-based curriculum, hands-on experience, digital tools, and preparation for work in museums, archives, libraries, galleries, and cultural organizations.
Current student projects: Student research and collections-analysis projects currently underway include:

• work in partnership with the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo focused on the life and work of a Tuskegee Airman and the underwater recovery of WWII aircraft;
• digitization and transcription of letters written during the 1918–19 flu epidemic;
• exhibition design projects that will result in online and onsite exhibition at RIT and beyond.
