Grace Perna, a third-year biotechnology student, and Eva Reilly, a second-year biochemistry major, will use the scholarship to further their research in labs that aim to find better solutions for a range of diseases.

The NSF awarded RIT more than $588,000 over the next five years to further implement and assess a course-based undergraduate research experience based on the Biochemistry Authentic Science Inquiry Laboratory (BASIL) project led by RIT.

After transferring to RIT, Kevin DiMagno became a biochemistry major to prepare for medical school after graduation. In this student spotlight, he talks about his interest in characterizing the function of NUDIX hydrolases enzymes and the focus of his research.

RIT Associate Professor Suzanne O’Handley has been selected by the Council on Undergraduate Research and the Goldwater Scholarship Foundation as the 2019 CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Awardee. O’Handley, a faculty member in RIT’s School of Chemistry and Materials Science, was chosen from 10 finalists for her considerable achievements as a dynamic scholar, teacher and mentor.
