Atrium
The Atrium is a flexible, open environment designed to support hands-on creativity, collaboration, prototyping, and community engagement within the SHED.
The space is designed to transition easily between daily makerspace activity and events such as showcases, receptions, tabling events, demonstrations, and collaborative programming. Its highly visible location encourages interdisciplinary interaction and active engagement within the building.
The space includes eight workbenches with seating for four at each station, soft seating for eight, and two high-top tables with seating for four each. Furniture may be adjusted to support approved events while maintaining the functionality of the makerspace environment.
To reserve the Atrium, log in to RIT’s Event Management System (EMS), select “Create a Reservation” from the menu on the left, then click the “Book Now” button for “Request Meeting/Event Space.”

Room Rental (External Guests)
External guests may reserve the Atrium for approved events. Standard room rental rates may apply. Please contact the Government and Community Relations Events Team for current pricing and availability.

Setup Options
Furniture may be rearranged, and additional furnishings may be brought in with advance coordination through FMS Events. Additional labor charges may apply for custom setups or furniture adjustments.

Food and Receptions
Food and receptions are permitted in the space. Groups are responsible for setup and cleanup, and custodial support may be arranged for an additional fee if needed.

AV Support
A portable sound system is available for events and presentations. Two portable displays and power distribution are also available The space does not include theatrical or gallery lighting capabilities.
