The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program is a program funded by the U.S. Department of State, administered by Howard University, that attracts and prepares outstanding young people for Foreign Service careers in the U.S. Department of State. The Pickering Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to promote positive change in the world. Upon successful completion of a two-year master’s degree program and fulfillment of Foreign Service entry requirements, fellows have the opportunity to work as Foreign Service Officers in accordance with applicable law and State Department policy, serving in Washington, DC and at a U.S. embassy, consulate, or diplomatic mission around the globe. Fellows also agree to a minimum five-year service commitment in the Department of State’s Foreign Service. The five-year service commitment begins upon entry into the Foreign Service. The Program provides graduate fellowships to qualified college seniors and college graduates committed to joining the Foreign Service. The fellowship helps finance two-year graduate programs, provides two summer internships, offers mentoring from a Foreign Service Officer, and provides other professional development activities. The program continues to ensure that the Foreign Service reflects the face of America to foreign audiences and provides a source of trained women and men who are dedicated to pursuing Foreign Service careers with the Department of State and representing America’s interests abroad.

Young people deserve to experience the world beyond their college campuses, but not everyone can afford to travel, especially if you’re on a student budget. The Tortuga Study Abroad Scholarship is awarded biannually to passionate students who want to explore the world. One winner is chosen each application cycle.

Scholarships (typically one or two) will be awarded each year to a student with US citizenship. The scholarship comprises a full tuition fee waiver for graduate study in Sweden and is funded by the Chalmers alumni organization, US Friends of Chalmers.

Each year, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research (BMBWF) seeks recent college and university graduates interested in teaching English in Austria. Fulbright Austria (Austrian-American Educational Commission) has been responsible for recruiting US citizens for this outstanding program since 1962. More than 4,000 US teaching assistants (USTAs) have made a difference in hundreds of thousands of young Austrians’ lives over the decades. The objective of the BMBWF's teaching assistantship program is not only to expose young Austrians to native speakers, but also to arouse their interest in other cultures based on cross-cultural dialogue and personal contacts.

Since 2014, Volunteer Forever has been offering travel scholarships to help participants defray the cost of volunteering, studying, interning, teaching, or working abroad. Twice a year, we award a $500 to $1,000 scholarship to two travelers. This scholarship is open to travelers embarking on all kinds of meaningful trips: no matter where you’d like to go worldwide, we’re here to help. The scholarship award can be used for anything related to your travel, including the program fee, airfare, travel insurance, or even spending money while abroad! During each scholarship round, essays are evaluated blindly by a scholarship committee.

The Fellowship Program at the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research is one of best opportunities around for students and scholars of the Near East. For more than a century, the Institute has provided scholars with an unparalleled international cultural environment, and a unique program that spans the broad spectrum of ancient Near Eastern studies. Each year, Albright Fellows from the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South Africa, as well as from Israel and the Palestinian Authority, exchange information and ideas with other scholars throughout the Eastern Mediterranean basin. Dedicated to the advancement of the study of the literature, history and culture of the ancient Near East, including the disciplines of the Archaeology of Palestine and Biblical Studies, the Albright continues to be a major American research center in the Middle East that strives for excellence in scholarship.

Students awarded an Alfred Wallace grant use the money towards their participation on scientific research projects conducted in the Wallacea region of Indonesia. During the eight week projects, students conduct bio-diversity studies, experience the highs (and lows) of real-life environmental research and contribute to on-going scientific investigations. The students work alongside world class scientists and the daily lectures from these experts complement the hands-on data gathering that is a core part of all the projects. There is a fee for participation. However, Operation Wallacea offers Alfred Russel Wallace Grants, aimed at students looking to join one of the biodiversity teams working in remote parts of the world in the summer. This grant is available for any students enrolled as an undergraduate at a US academic institution and booked on to any Opwall summer project.

Post-Ph.D. Research Grants are awarded to individuals holding a Ph.D. or equivalent degree to support individual research projects. The program contributes to the Foundation's overall mission to support basic research in anthropology and to ensure that the discipline continues to be a source of vibrant and significant work that furthers our understanding of humanity's cultural and biological origins, development, and variation.

Yamaha Corporation is recruiting a wide range of competitive R&D and product development engineers for its internship programs. Interns will be working at the Innovation Center, which is Yamaha's dedicated R&D headquarters located in Hamamatsu, Japan. The program will span approximately 12 weeks in summer season, and also will support your travel and accommodations. Interns will be members of teams which include other Yamaha researchers and engineers.
