Sustainable Innovations Lab

The circular economy is a model for sustainable production and consumption where waste is designed out, materials are kept in use as long as possible, and natural systems are regenerated. The Sustainable Innovations Lab was created through a gift from Staples Inc. to support high-impact research to shape the future of sustainable products. Today, the lab is a hub for research, outreach, education, and training to advance sustainability for new product development.

Lab activities include:

  • piloting and assessing sustainable products and technologies
  • integration of sustainable business practices into new product development
  • manufacturing, supply chain, and reverse logistics modeling
