Experience Architecture: Sustainable Architecture Challenge

Experience what it’s like to be an architect/sustainable designer.

Are you curious what it would be like to design the buildings of the future? Or maybe you just find yourself looking at photos of sustainable architecture and wondering how they are created. Join us for this challenge to experience what goes into thinking about the future of building design!

Learn about the principles and practices of sustainable architecture, such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and green materials. Then, work with others to design a sustainable building for the Rochester region with environmental, social, and economic considerations in mind. You will generate sketches and a model of your design using provided materials, such as recycled paper, cardboard, and wood. Throughout the process, you will have access to the center’s facilities, tools, and resources, as well as guidance and feedback from RIT faculty and students. At the end of the activity, you will get to show off your idea, and reimagine Rochester with others from the perspective of a sustainable architect. Plus, stay for the free food and an opportunity to meet some local architects afterward!

This event is open to all regional college students who are interested in design and architecture. You do not need any prior experience or knowledge in architecture to participate. You just need to bring your curiosity, creativity, and passion for sustainability and design.
