RIT Tiger snaps Tiger’s roar after historic win
 

Jason Getz ’98  took this image of Tiger Woods celebrating after winning the Masters on Sunday.

Tiger Woods captured his fifth Masters championship on Sunday, April 14, 2019 and Jason Getz ’98 (photojournalism) captured the the iconic moment. Getz shot the photo of Woods in his comeback victory for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a contract photographer. The photo ran in multiple publications across the country such as Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer and The Oregonian.

Announcing RIT's New College of Engineering Technology Dean
 

RIT alum S. Manian Ramkumar, Ph.D., ME ’91, has been named dean of the College of Engineering Technology (CET), one of the university’s oldest and largest colleges. Dr. Ramkumar was a long-time faculty member and research leader in the College of Applied Science and Technology, the forerunner to CET. He had been serving as interim dean of the College of Engineering Technology, and was named to the permanent position following a national search.

Visitors to Imagine RIT explore one of the exhibits

Imagine RIT 2019 features MAGIC and human-sized hamster wheel

Crowds again flocked to the RIT campus for the annual Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival, drawn by more than 400 exhibits and the new MAGIC facility. Also featured were student ensemble performances, cutting-edge video games, a human-sized hamster wheel and 3D computer models of rare insects.

The 2019 commencement college delegates have been selected! College delegates are students whose achievements demonstrate not only their academic prowess, but the overall ideals of RIT. Each college selects one undergraduate student and may select a graduate student. The delegates will speak at their respective college commencement ceremonies.

RIT alumni take off to faculty-led Iceland design tour and festival

Professor Josh Owen led an eight-day design-centric tour at the end of March during DesignMarch, Iceland’s biggest design festival. The group went on design-focused tours of Reykjavík, met with local designers and attended design presentations and workshops. This trip was one of several offered each year by the RIT Alumni Association, specifically planned for RIT alumni and friends.

RIT ‘futurists’ symposium

Forward-thinking RIT alumni and an RIT student entrepreneur shared their views of what the future may hold during Imagine RIT. “The Future of Technology, the Arts and Design” symposium and panel discussion capped off the celebration of the Henrietta campus 50th anniversary, and featured photographer Kwaku Alston ’94 (photographic illustration), VP of creative marketing at The Walt Disney Co. Tom Connor ’11 (film and animation), and fifth-year student and startup CEO Brandon Hudson.
