This course introduces the cognitive and technical skills needed to transform ideas into accurate three-dimensional representations of design intent. Students explore concept generation, materials selection, and the physicality of ideas while developing effective workflows and safe shop practices. Projects focus on prototyping and model making to understand the relationship between form, function, and user experience, as well as translating two-dimensional shapes into three-dimensional forms. Senior ID Studio II applies design methods and skills to advanced level projects addressing users with unique, non-traditional needs requiring multi-disciplinary collaborations. Project development will emulate processes used in professional industrial design practice.
