This course introduces the cognitive and technical skills needed to transform ideas into accurate three-dimensional representations of design intent. Students explore concept generation, materials selection, and the physicality of ideas while developing effective workflows and safe shop practices. Projects focus on prototyping and model making to understand the relationship between form, function, and user experience, as well as translating two-dimensional shapes into three-dimensional forms. This course builds foundational visualization skills by integrating analog sketching with digital drawing tools for industrial design communication. Students will explore vector- and raster-based software to create compelling concept presentations, digital renderings, and product visualizations. Emphasis is placed on developing professional workflows that combine storytelling, digital craftsmanship, and presentation design to effectively communicate design intent.
