Design professor recognized for his dedication

School of Design adjunct professor Chris Lyons has been named this year’s recipient of the Edline M. Chun Award for outstanding teaching and service.

The award is named in honor of late RIT adjunct professor Edline Chun, and is given annually to an adjunct faculty member who typifies excellence and dedication to teaching in the College of Art and Design at RIT.

Lyons, who teaches in the graphic design and industrial design programs, is the fourth recipient of the award.

“Chris Lyons is an outstanding and remarkable educator. Passionate, engaging and a leader in design career preparedness, Chris nurtures real-world learning into the design classroom,” said Peter Byrne, School of Design administrative chair. “Our current students, faculty and staff, and alumni in the School of Design are proud of his accomplishments, and we are thrilled that his impact in the design community at RIT and beyond is being recognized with the Edline M. Chun Award.”

A congratulatory reception will be held for Lyons at 5 p.m. April 18 in University Gallery.
