Illustrating Live Surgery

After observing a live brain surgery performed at a local hospital, Abby Nautel ’26 (medical illustration) visually detailed every step of a right front craniotomy. The procedure involves removing a section of the skull to treat underlying brain issues. It was one of two live observation assignments completed for her Surgical Illustration course. This piece was digitally illustrated before incorporating the text and layout.
