Packaging Design / GRDE 432 FUTUREBRAND and Paperboard Packaging Alliance 2025 Competition

April 30, 2025 Graphic Design, Industrial Design, and Packaging Science Student Teams Faculty: Lorrie Frear

This is an interdisciplinary, team-based course where Industrial Designers, Graphic Designers, and Packaging Science Students work together to create innovative packaging solutions.

This interdisciplinary course includes fourth year graphic designers and industrial designers who are joined for the Paperboard Packaging Alliance Student Design Challenge by Packaging Science students. This semester began with a project sponsored and led by FUTUREBRAND for concepts for new granola products. Five teams of three to four members participated in that project. Five teams each with four or six members participated in the Paperboard Packaging Alliance 2025 Student Design Challenge, with a total of 28 class members.

The PPA Student Design Challenge is an annual design competition in which attracts the top packaging design programs in the U.S. This year's challenge was to create two innovative paperboard solutions per team for pets. One package held a pet DNA kit or wellness kit, and the other package held a pet accessory.
