Video Resources

The animated RIT end slates below will give your video a branded look so your audience will know it is an RIT creation. Place into your non-linear editor at the end of your sequence and trim to fit for you purposes.

If RIT fully owns all material in the video, you can add a copyright on this end slate. To copyright a video, RIT must own or have written permission for all contents in the video including, music, photographs, video clips, presentations, graphics. If all contents are cleared then you can add “©2021, Rochester Institute of Technology, All Rights Reserved”.

You can also request video files with copyright added by emailing brand@rit.edu

RIT welcomes filming on our campus, with the correct approvals and compliance with University processes.  Please see below on how to get started. 

Commercial Productions 

MAGIC Spell Studios is our state-of-the-art facility that is available for all industry and commercial use.  This space rivals those found in NYC and LA, providing a one-of-a-kind education for our students and supporting a thriving local film community.  In order to book this facility or for any other commercial production questions please contact Amanda Hughes, Technology Manager and Studio Systems Specialist. 

Non-Commercial Productions

News media inquiries can be directed to the our University Communications team at ritnews@rit.edu. 

For all other non-commercial filming requests on campus, please contact Lindsay St. Lucia in the Division of Marketing and Communications. 

Generally, filming requests can be processed in 5 to 7 business days. However, if your production affects multiple areas of campus, or wishes to use the name of the University, additional time will be required to secure permissions and approvals. It is recommended that requests be submitted at least two weeks in advance.

Drones on Campus

RIT prohibits the unauthorized use of drones (UAS) on campus to protect safety, privacy, and security.  RIT must approve anyone wishing to fly a drone at the university and will require additional information and verification in order to proceed (at minimum a pilot license, FAA approval and Certificate of Insurance).  RIT is located within 5 miles of the Rochester airport, so we have to assure we receive the appropriate approvals. Please contact Lindsay St. Lucia in the Division of Marketing and Communications for more information. 

Our general guidelines for university staff, faculty and students is below: 

Faculty and Staff

Drone operations for research, academics, marketing, or other university business purposes must:

• Comply with all applicable FAA regulations
• Be conducted by a Pilot in Command holding an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107)
• Follow all FAA Part 107 operational requirements
• Receive approval from the appropriate Dean or Division Vice President before flying

Recreational drone takeoffs and landings are not permitted on RIT property

Students

Academic Use (Coursework or Research)
Students may operate drones for university-related academic activities when they:

• Receive approval from their instructor, faculty advisor, or supervising academic unit
• Comply with all FAA regulations and campus requirements

Recreational Use
Students may not launch or land recreational drones on campus

Student Organizations

Student organizations wishing to operate drones must:

• Obtain approval from their overseeing department or organization (such as Student Affairs or a college)
• Follow all FAA regulations and campus requirements

All individuals whose image, video, or voice will be used for RIT marketing or promotional purposes (such as print materials, video, web, or social media) should complete and submit a release form.

If you will be taking photo or video of a larger group, please provide the link to the internal talent release form prior to the shoot to all subjects. This ensures adequate time for submission.
