Atlantis

Atlantis offers RIT pre-health/pre-med students a hospital shadowing program in public hospitals in Europe. Participants learn about the European healthcare system and obtain valuable clinical experience by shadowing health professionals.

Program Includes:

  • 20+ weekly hours of hospital shadowing
  • Housing in dorms, apartments, or similar accommodations 
  • 24/7 on-site staff support from Atlantis City Manager 
  • On-site and hospital orientation sessions 
  • Daily transportation to and from the hospital as well as transportation for group meals (when necessary) and Atlantis-coordinated excursions 
  • Two cultural immersion or regional excursion trips, which include transport, tickets or guide fees, and a meal 
  • Light breakfast seven days per week 
  • Three group meals per week (two group dinners, one lunch during the weekly excursion) 
  • Wi-Fi access in housing (often not high-speed internet, but typically good enough for emails) 

Program Requirements

You are eligible to apply if you meet the following conditions:

  • Be at least 18 when your program begins. 
  • Be at least a first-year student at RIT
  • Be in good standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. 
  • Be enrolled in any degree program on a path leading to a health-related career. 
  • Have not graduated from college/university before December 2027, unless (1) you are currently in another health-related degree program; (2) you are in an experience that leads to another health-related degree; or (3) you just want to participate in the language and culture part of the program.

Program Fee: $5,000 (includes housing)​​​​​​​

Terms and Conditions   

  • Application fee: $300 (Non refundable unless rejected from the program)
  • Rolling admissions until slots are filled. Only 8 slots available
  • Notification of Acceptance: Within a week of interview
  • Commitment letter signed deadline: Two weeks after acceptance letter is received
  • Deposit to secure your acceptance into the program due when commitment letter signed: $1,500.00 (Non-refundable after February 26, 2027)
  • Airfare and ground transportation from and to the airport not included in price
  • Final Payment due March 12th, 2027
