New digital tools, career advising and a stronger employer network: RIT Croatia launches the R.I.T.A. project
Co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus, the project focuses on improving internship opportunities, supporting students’ career development, strengthening collaboration with employers, and expanding the alumni community.
RIT Croatia has launched the project “Enhancing RIT Croatia’s Capacities for Internships and Students’ Academic and Career Development” (R.I.T.A.), focused on improving internship opportunities, supporting students’ career development, strengthening collaboration with employers, and expanding the alumni community. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) under the Effective Human Resources Programme 2021–2027 and will run until July 2029.
The project aims to increase students’ employability by improving the quality and accessibility of internships, modernizing the internship evaluation process, strengthening career advising, and creating stronger connections among students, alumni, and employers.
One of the most important developments for students will be the introduction of new digital tools that will bring together information on job and internship opportunities, employer partners, conferences, and workshops in one place. The tools will also make it easier for students to apply for internships and for internships to be tracked and evaluated.
The project will also further strengthen collaboration with employers, giving students access to a broader range of high-quality opportunities to gain professional experience while studying. At the same time, RIT Croatia will expand its career advising activities and build a more active alumni community, creating additional opportunities for students to network, find mentors, and exchange experiences with graduates.
The project officially kicked off with a conference held on September 30, 2026, at RIT Croatia’s Zagreb campus, featuring the panel discussion “What Gen Z Wants, What Employers Expect & Where the Gap Is.” The discussion addressed an important question: how can we better connect the expectations of a new generation of young professionals with employers’ needs and the realities of today’s labor market?
RIT Croatia alumni Dino Lučan (HR Director, Newfire Global Partners) and Luka Alaupović (Sales & Marketing Manager, Medora Hotels & Resorts), together with recent graduate Leonela Krajač (RCS Product Marketing Intern, Infobip), discussed what Gen Z expects from the world of work, what employers expect from young professionals, and how educational institutions can better support students as they transition from university to their professional careers. The panel was moderated by Nina Mimica.
Over the three-year implementation period, the project foresees 300 internships with employers, five career workshops and events, seven alumni events for RIT Croatia graduates, the introduction of two new digital modules for internship and alumni community management, and the expansion of RIT Croatia’s employer partner network. Through these activities, RIT Croatia aims to make the transition from the classroom to the workplace easier for students and further strengthen the connection between education and the needs of the economy.
The total value of the R.I.T.A. project is EUR 160,953.80, of which EUR 157,734.71 is provided through grant funding. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
