By supporting student success, campus connections with the advancement of technology, and flexibility, RIT Housing provides the best living solutions for students who are in pursuit of a successful college experience.

First-year students are given the opportunity to self-select their housing assignment and choose their roommate(s) during the Freshmen Room Selection process. You may choose either the residence halls or the RIT Inn during the selection process. Students who do not select a room during this process will be assigned to an available space by RIT Housing. Both of these first-year residence options are embedded in a learning community of diverse interests and lifestyles. RIT living is exciting and life changing no matter which option you choose!

Explore campus living within our first-year freshman communities of diverse interests, which is designed with an emphasis on comfort, safety, and easy access to technology. Both RIT housing options have Resident Advisors who facilitate social gatherings and offer personal and developmental support to students. The RIT Shuttle provides free transportation to and from campus, both living locations, and local shopping.

All entering first-year students are required to live in one of RIT Housing’s first-year communities for their first academic year, with the exception of those who live within a 30-mile commuting distance with a parent.
