Description:
The Brinkman Lab in Gleason Hall will be filled with exhibits including: The Okuma 5 Axis Milling Center - We have a turbine blade being machined for the RIT Launch club. This is student generated and produced to a high degree of accuracy and complexity. Hybrid Manufacturing Technology - This features the building of structures using a high powered laser. Fine powdered stainless steel is combined with laser energy. The process is done in a 5 axis Hardinge milling center. Graduate students will demonstrate this emerging technology. Vader Aluminum Deposition Technology - This process will demonstrate the printing of aluminum on flexible substrates for use in electronics. Titan Autodesk: Large Gantry Rapid Prototyping - A large platform shows additive manufacturing by printing with carbon fiber/nylon materials. Hardinge 3 Axis Milling Center - Demonstrations wil show event goers how parts are created and machined. A small part made on the CNC mill will be handed out to those who want one.
