The Power of Performance

Few things bring us all together more effectively than a captivating performance. The bond that forms between those on stage and those in the seats is indescribable. Each season at RIT we endeavor to create new experiences for our performers and the audience by exploring the dramatic, comedic, romantic, musical, and experimental.

At RIT, we’re always on to something thrilling.

Season Selection Committee

The Joint Collaboration Committee was formed in 2018 to spearhead the growing mutual endeavors in performing arts made by the RIT College of Liberal Arts Theatre Arts Program and the NTID Department of Performing Arts. The committee is comprised of seven seats to be filled by five faculty and staff members from the programs as well as two students who are engaged in the performing arts at RIT and NTID.

Three primary initiatives drive the committee's work:

  1. season selection
  2. outreach events such as workshops and open houses
  3. curricular goals

For season selection, the committee meets bi-weekly starting in September to begin soliciting production proposals from the entire RIT/NTID Community. Proposals are welcome from all students, faculty, and staff. Throughout the winter, the committee evaluates incoming production proposals and then announces the upcoming theatre season in early February.

To see the rubric used for scoring proposals or if you have any questions, email Andy Head at awhgla@rit.edu.
