    Goodbye, Goodbuy! builds a decade of sustainability habits

    Since the start of the program, Goodbye, Goodbuy! has saved over 100 tons of goods from landfills. During the spring semester move-out, donated items are collected and stored to be offered at thrift store prices at the annual sale for incoming students in the fall.

    RIT readies campus master plan that will guide future growth and development

    A comprehensive master planning process for the RIT campus that began in 2020 has resulted in a long-term, conceptual layout that will guide future growth and development across the university’s 1,300 acres over the next 25 to 50 years. The steering committee is now inviting final comments to the campus master plan during a review period that runs through Dec. 23, 2022.

    RIT’s utilization of nearly 71 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually represents more than 92 percent of its total power needs, placing it No. 21 on the EPA’s Top 30 College & University List of the largest green power users among higher-education institutions in the agency’s Green Power Partnership.

    RIT gets greener with elimination of plastic bags and straws

    Plastic bags, straws and stirrers will be a thing of the past beginning Friday at RIT, as the university begins its “Ditch the Disposables” campaign to decrease plastic waste. The initiative comes with student support, and in advance of a state ban on plastic bags that begins March 1.
