Jumping high: Recent graduate named Indiana Photographer of the Year

Sarah Ann Jump hasn’t been an RIT College of Art and Design graduate for long, but that hasn’t deterred her from already making a sizable impact in her field.

Jump, a staff photojournalist for the Jasper, Ind.-based Dubois County Herald, earned several huge honors last month when the Indiana News Photographers Association announced its annual awards.She won first place in a handful categories — including in the highest one — in the contest comprising of media work done across the entire state.

Jump, an RIT photojournalismalumna (2015), was named both the 2016 Indiana Photographer of the Year and Sports Photographer of the Year while also taking first place in Community Awareness.

The RIT graduate also placed first in Feature Story, first, second and honorable mention in Sports Feature and third and honorable mention in Feature.  

Jump has been a staff photojournalist with The Herald since May 2016. She is a member of the National Press Photographers Association.
