    2023 Imagine RIT poster blends technology with the arts

    An imaginary close-up of the inside of a computer, mixed with neon lights, microphones, an artist’s palette, molecules, and computer code, has been selected as this year’s Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival poster. The winning poster was created by Annelise Wall, a second-year new media design major.

    RIT grad’s art ‘New Tricks’ featured on the cover of ‘The New Yorker’

    RIT alumnus John W. Tomac ’03 (illustration) has recreated The New Yorker’s iconic dandy Eustace Tilley as a dog for the cover of the magazine’s February 2023 issue, which is on stands now. Tomac’s artwork, called New Tricks, continues the tradition of The New Yorker’s annual February anniversary issue displaying a different artist’s version of the magazine’s mascot.

    RIT has again been ranked as one of the top game design universities in the nation. RIT was named No. 5 on the Animation Career Review list of Top 50 Game Design Schools and Colleges in the U.S. and No. 2 in New York state.

    College of Art and Design’s new ArtEx program opens doors for creative exploration

    RIT students will have more opportunities to flex their creative muscles outside of the classroom through a new program called ArtEx, housed within RIT’s College of Art and Design. The new program creates opportunities for students outside of the college to engage with the resources and expertise available within the School for American Crafts and School of Art.

    Retrograde, a classical rock band formed about a year and a half ago with five RIT students, won best performance and a $500 prize in this year’s Ovation: RIT Performing Arts Showcase, held Friday night in Ingle Auditorium.

    RIT student Jake Downie has been “all in” for the past few years when working to advance JDocs, a startup he created with fellow computer science student Artem Goncharov. And now, a JDocs product, FlexFile, is making waves in the legal industry. Last week, FlexFile became a semifinalist to compete in ABA Techshow’s Startup Alley competition.
