Thousands of RIT students searched for co-ops and full-time employment at more than 230 local, regional, and national companies represented at the University-wide Career Fair on Oct. 8.

RIT, named as a top “National University,” continues its upward trajectory, rising to No. 88 in the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings. The publication also cited RIT as being among the best universities in value, game design/simulation, experiential learning with co-ops and internships, and innovation.

Max Schaefer ’25 (motion picture science) did it all at RIT. He was a mainstay on student and commercial production sets. A live shader for RIT Sports Network hockey broadcasts. A leader in RIT’s Fraternity Life community. Conducted virtual production and motion capture research. And enjoyed an inspiring work experience with Universal Studios Hollywood.

Ava Guarino '26 (illustration) brought a toy robot to an interview — and got the job. She originally made an eye-catching 2D animation of a food delivery robot before using 3D software to translate it into a 3D-printed form that helped land her an internship with Fisher-Price.

RIT marked the 20th anniversary of its experiential learning programs in Genoa, Italy, with an event at the historic Palazzo Doria-Tursi, which houses Genoa’s city hall. The celebration, organized in collaboration with Door to Italy, an esteemed language school in Genoa that partners with RIT on the programs, highlighted the success of RIT’s study abroad and work abroad initiatives, which have enriched students’ academic and professional experiences over the past two decades.

Four advertising and public relations majors represented RIT in its debut at the annual American Advertising Federation (AAF) National Student Advertising District 2 Competition held April 20 in New York City. Recognized for skillfully answering the judges’ questions and leaving no question unanswered, the team won the “Best Q&A” award and placed fourth overall, beating out legacy participants.

RIT’s co-op program is one of the oldest in the nation, beginning in 1912. More than 5,000 RIT students typically complete a co-op each year.
