RIT/NTID presents “She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms,” for four performances, next Friday through April 18. While the audience will watch virtually, the actors will be performing live in several “actor stations” in Lyndon Baines Johnson Hall and its Robert F. Panara Theatre.

With more than $4 million in support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and other organizations, Associate Professor Mehdi Mirakhorli and his student team are developing tools and techniques to help coders take an architectural approach to software design.

School of Individualized Study student Harrison Canning and his business partner, Colin Fausnaught, a 2019 software engineering graduate from RIT, formed the BCI Guys, which stands for brain-computer interface technology. RIT will use a $5.5 million federal grant to grow a program that trains the next generation of cybersecurity professionals who will help secure the nation. The National Science Foundation awarded RIT the five-year grant that will renew funding for the CyberCorps: Scholars for Service program.

RIT is helping the area’s sharpest young minds gain an interest in cybersecurity careers through free summer programs for middle and high school students. The Co-ed RIT GenCyber camp will be held July 8–12, while the RIT GenCyber for Girls camp will be held July 22–26.

More than 100 RIT students were honored Thursday as Outstanding Undergraduate Scholars. The students were also able to invite the high school or community college teacher that made the most impact on their education.
