Low-Cost Drone for Search and Rescue Applications

Exhibit Code: GLE-1000

Location: James E. Gleason Hall (GLE/009) - Erdle-Lab

Description:
This custom-built UAV features an onboard camera and computer vision system for fast, accurate identification of missing persons in search-and-rescue applications. The drone flies along a specified search path without requiring any operator control or input, and performs predetermined actions when a person is detected. Multiple drones could be used to form a "swarm" that searches more quickly, cheaply, and efficiently than conventional search-and-rescue methods.
