Job Profile – Public Relations Manager– Full-Time Position

Under the direction of the President, the PR Manager leads the public relations functions of the RITK and represents the RITK to external media sources as the official RITK Spokesperson and provides high-level communications on behalf of executive leadership. Executes a variety of institutional-wide communication and media relations initiatives designs to enhance the RITK’s ties to its internal and external constituents. Produces and disseminates information in accordance to RITK’s goals, objectivism and priorities. Works in a collaborative environment to provide accurate information on sensitive, confidential, and high-impact issues to the institution.

Works with other departmental managers to plan and implement public relations strategies that support efforts to reach and engage RITK’s target audiences, which include the community, government policy makers, the media, alumni and friends, students, employees and business and philanthropic leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the other RITK’s managers, provides leadership for the media and public relations components of the RITK’s Marketing and Communications Plan. Manages media relations for the RITK, developing and implementing a strategic media relations campaign to ensure a positive public image for the RITK.
  • Manages day-to-day relations with the media, to include handling media queries, media interviews, and press conferences, preparing news releases and media kits, and promoting story lines; serves as the RITK’s Spokesperson on highly sensitive, complex or emergency.
  • Provides direct and proactive advice, consultation and assistance to the President, Senior Management, Associate Deans, Provost, and other executives, as well as the RITK’s community, regarding public information matters, to include providing direct assistance in researching, providing information and developing messages.
  • Cultivates and maintains knowledge of and relationships with key news media at all levels.
  • Responds to and follows through on requests for information from the media and the public, determining appropriate and accurate response
  • Supports effective response strategies, including response to crisis situations requiring 24/7 attention and intense media/public scrutiny, and articulates the RITK’s position via personal interviews and written responses.
  • Plans and disseminates internal and external communication of information through various media that is designated to keep public informed of RITK’s programs, accomplishments or points of view.
  • Writes, edits, reviews and assures appropriate distribution of communication/public relations materials that have a RITK-wide impact including news releases, articles, speeches, online information services, and broadcast scripts; may oversee production and publication of communication/public relations materials and related communication.
  • Gather, write, edit, coordinate and upload information for/to the website; may assist with the design of consistent methodologies for the development of website and new merging technological communications resources
  • Leads and guides the work of a collaborative communication team as appropriate
  • Plans external audience special events for the RITK, aggressively seeking opportunities to “make news” that generates coverage. Provides guidance and support to departments and campuses planning events and other public relations activities. Represents RITK administration at public relations strategy meetings with business and industry, education, other partners and with media outlets for shared promotional efforts. Represents RITK administration at public events, press conferences and meetings, and assists leaders with public appearances.
  • Develops and disseminates public relations materials, including press releases, media packets, feature stories for the college website and magazine, social media content and internal communication pieces. Researches and helps develop communications and talking points for RITK leaders.
  • Serves as the RITK’s public information officer and principal spokesperson to the public and the media. Maintains contact with Executive Officers and the President in matters relating to news media, public statements, crisis communications and public relations activities, representing RITK’s leadership to the news media.
  • Confers with department directors, committees, managers, and staff teams to provide public relations consultation. Develops related strategies and provides training on how to implement strategies.
  • Establishes priorities for work assignments, monitors progress, reviews work products and ensures products are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Manage a team – including one full-time Graphic Designer/Storyteller/Copywriter and one part-time Webmaster & Social Media Administrator
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in journalism, political science, marketing, public relations, communications or related field. At least 5 years of progressively responsible, professional experience related to area of assignment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to use independent judgment and to gather, manage and impart information to the media and various other internal and external audiences.
  • Experience communicating with the press and other media.
  • Strong knowledge of local and regional media contacts and/or a proven ability to develop such relationships quickly.
  • Advanced writing, communication, and presentation skills, to include ability to communicate effectively on-camera.
  • Ability to provide effective advice and counsel on strategic and/or critical communication issues and to exercise effective judgement.
  • Ability to write executive-level communications for internal and external audiences.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards for the management and disclosure of public information.
  • Knowledge of journalism, public relations and general communications principles and practices.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge of electronic communications applications, including internet content management systems, and online/social media distribution channels.
  • Basic knowledge of photography and the use of digital cameras.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Languages: Professional fluency in English and Albanian (excellent oral and written skills essential)

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, multi-cultural environment are essential.
  • Good organizational skills, a smart professional public image, diplomacy, patience, common sense and confidentiality are essential. The incumbent will also have good IT skills, with competence in using Microsoft Office (word processing and spreadsheets) and email.
  • Incumbent will be expected to demonstrate clear judgment consistently when taking a decision that relates to his/her tasks and responsibilities.  He/she will also be expected to exercise discretion and diplomacy at all times whilst carrying out his/her tasks and duties as well as maintaining the strictest confidentiality.

Job Profile –Webmaster Administrator – Full-Time Position

The Webmaster Administrator has primary responsibility to direct RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) online presence while projecting a vibrant, qualitative, brand-aligned voice across all digital platforms. The Webmaster Administrator works closely with all departments and defines the standards for website appearance, structure and content. The Webmaster Administrator reports to the PR Manager and provides strategic direction and leadership for web-based project management, content management, processes, and software selection.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) websites and other digital presences are functional, user-friendly, visually pleasing, and up to date.
  • Building and executing website and social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
  • Fulfill all webmaster roles, from design and development to implementation, management and maintenance of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) websites.
  • The incumbent will ensure RITK web presence engages participants, alumni, donors, partners, and other allies.
  • Develops the technical architecture of websites including scripting, database design, and user interface design.
  • Conceptualizes the graphical interface of the division’s websites and utilizes software tools to integrate graphical concepts.
  • Ensures the integrity of all code and links.
  • Gathers feedback from management and users regarding the division’s websites and makes appropriate modifications and enhancements to attract repeat users.
  • Analyzes traffic to the websites and recommends any necessary programming changes.
  • Coordinates with the IT Department to maintain backup recovery procedures.
  • Researches new tools for managing websites and integrates new technologies as appropriate.
  • Ensure a consistent voice, brand and engagement across all RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) social media channels.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action.
  • Setting up and optimizing pages within each platform to increase the visibility of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) social content.
  • Continuously improve by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices and then acting on the information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions.
  • Coordinate work with graphic design students and campus community.
  • This individual will remain current in and utilize digital trends to maximize engagement of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) constituents.
  • Stay abreast of current events and trending topics and act quickly to leverage and provide appropriate commentary when relevant and necessary via social media and blogging channels.

Qualifications and working experience:

  • University degree in computer science.
  • Experience in Drupal and WordPress.
  • Working experience in web development and webmaster support; site planning and layout of web applications, websites, and web related services and technology utilizing dynamic and static web interfaces using HTML, DHTML, VB Script, Java Scripts, and Cascading Style Sheets, Designing, developing and supporting web content with Blogs, newsfeeds, audio and video and social networking services.
  • Familiarity with web standards, web design and development, IT Security, working knowledge of website management tools and knowledge of inter-browser/cross-platform compatibility.
  • Proficiency in search engine optimization best practices and online marketing.
  • Good knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+ and other social media best practices.
  • Knowledge in graphic design is preferred.

Job Profile - Student Life Coordinator – Full-Time Position

The Student Life Coordinator performs tasks and provides high-level planning, organizing, and delivery of co-curricular and extra-curricular programs for students. This position reports to the President/Dean of Students and is responsible for coordinating student organizations, programs, and events within the College. The person in this role will help to create a learning community that contribute to the overall experience and success of students. This position's responsibilities include: student housing, full logistical organization of events, excursions, program trips, including travel arrangement, entries, food and beverages, detailed itineraries and budget management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 Work with program heads, academic advisors, and the institutional development office to design and coordinate regular student programming activities, including mapping of each event to ensure quantifiable learning in line with the RIT Kosovo model.
 Be a resource to program heads, academic advisors, and the institutional development office, and students on cultural awareness, local resources, transport, living in Prishtina etc.

 Working with the institution on the creation of the Orientation Schedule. This includes airport transport, check-in at student housing, walking tours, registration and memberships, Prishtina orientation, service learning information, support and faculty staff inductions, trips to Prishtina attractions etc.

  • Oversee the Student Government and coordinate all the tasks in relation with Student Government. All responsibilities related to Student Government will be managed by the incumbent. Coordinate and support the Student Government for the implementation of its initiatives, and assistance in the organization of extra-curricular activities.
  • Files student requests and complaints and directs them to the appropriate member of staff.

 Administration for Orientation activities, including securing events, budget management, travel arrangement, arranging orientation materials and packs, collecting and reviewing health and safety procedures etc.
 Attendance at extra-curricular and co-curricular events where relevant, especially those with overnight stays.

 Research and plan excursions that have a learning component, and all associated logistics.

 Ensure all events are inclusive, and take into account any special arrangements.

 General administrative duties such as arranging ID cards, memberships to the Library, and other resources.

 Provide administrative support to the department, peers and faculty, and undertakes duties as appropriately tasked.

Preferred Experience

 Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred.
 Experience with event management related to student activities on a larger scale.

 Strong knowledge of Kosovo’s intellectual, cultural, and/or business institutions and networks.
 Experience working in a University or academic setting is preferred.

 Experience living, studying, or working abroad or experience working with international students.

 Experience with U.S. student demographic is preferable.

• Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills as well as a positive attitude.
