Information for International Faculty

Welcome to RIT Kosovo. We are pleased to welcome international faculty to RIT Kosovo. To help ensure a smooth transition and compliance with institutional and national requirements, please review the key processes outlined below.

International faculty who are not citizens of Kosovo may require a visa to enter the country.

  • Please check visa requirements based on your citizenship through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo.
  • If needed, apply for a visa before arrival.
  • RIT Kosovo can provide a letter of invitation to support your visa application.

If your stay in Kosovo will exceed 90 days, you are required to apply for a temporary residence permit from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

You will need to submit the following documents:

  • A valid passport
  • Employment confirmation from RIT Kosovo
  • RIT Kosovo’s Business Registration Certificate (provided by our office)
  • Proof of accommodation in Kosovo
  • Health insurance
  • Police clearance certificate from your home country (only required for first-time applications)
  •  An authorized translation in Albanian or Serbian, notarized by a local notary office, of your most recent academic diploma.

Renewal Applications:
The length of the temporary residence permit depends on the duration of your employment contract and can be granted for up to one year (no more than one year) at a time.

To reapply for a residence permit, you will need:

  • A valid passport
  • Your current Kosovo ID
  • A police background check from Kosovo
  • Updated employment documents (if applicable)

Please note:

  • Renewal must be initiated at least one month before your current permit expires
  • The issuance of a new residence permit card typically takes 4–6 weeks

Important:
If you fail to apply for renewal on time, a late application fee of €100 may apply. Depending on the length of the delay, you may also face legal consequences, including possible deportation.

Our office is available to support you through the process and ensure timely submission of all required documents.

All international faculty are required to validate their academic degrees through NARIC Kosovo.

Degree Validation Requirements:

  1. Completed online application form from NARIC
  2. Copy of temporary Kosovo ID or passport
  3. Original diploma (for verification)
  4. Notarized copy of diploma (A4 format, verified at a notary office)
  5. Notarized copy of transcript (verified at a notary office)
  6. Authorized translation of both diploma and transcript into Albanian or Serbian (if not originally in one of these languages)
  7. Diploma supplement (if applicable)
  8. Copy of thesis
  9. Abstract of the thesis (no more than 3 pages), translated into Albanian or Serbian

  • For Master’s recognition: Bachelor’s diploma

Note:
Each degree must be validated with a separate application, starting with the Bachelor’s degree, followed by Master’s, and then PhD, using the same requirements listed above.

All faculty must be registered in the Kosovo E-Accreditation platform to be formally recognized by national accreditation bodies.

  • Registration is completed by RIT Kosovo after you have submitted proof that your nostrification process has been initiated.
  • The platform opens each year on July 1st.
  • Our office will coordinate your registration once the required documentation is in place.
