Celebrating Innovation: Inspiring Computational Research at University 'Isa Boletini'

The Department of Computer Science at the University "Isa Boletini" in Mitrovica, Kosovo, recently hosted a captivating open lecture showcasing innovative computational projects by talented RIT faculty and students. Held on March 19, 2024, the event provided a platform for Lead faculty and students to present their work and share insights into their projects. Professor Debabrata Samanta, Ph.D., from the Rochester Institute of Technology Kosovo (RITK), initiated the session with an opening presentation, setting the tone for the upcoming student presentations and inspiring the audience.

The lecture hall was filled with anticipation as students and faculty members gathered to witness the culmination of months of hard work. Dr. Samanta's introductory remarks emphasized the importance of practical application in computer science. Following Dr. Samanta's introduction, three standout students showcased their projects: Diar Haxhimehmeti, a second-year student; Amela Kajtazi; and Dalmat Kodraliu, both freshmen. Each student demonstrated proficiency in different programming languages and computational skills, captivating the audience with their presentations.

Diar Haxhimehmeti kicked off the presentations with his web development skills, presenting a dynamic website powered by PHP. The seamless integration of functionality and aesthetics impressed the audience, highlighting the significance of web development skills in today's digital landscape. Amela Kajtazi followed, demonstrating her mastery of Java by solving complex mathematical problems with elegance. Her project illustrated the practical applications of programming in solving real-world challenges, inspiring fellow students to explore computational problem-solving.

Concluding the session, Dalmat Kodraliu presented his modern twist on the classic game Hangman, developed using C++. His innovative approach and skillful execution left a lasting impression on the audience, drawing admiration for his creativity. As the applause subsided, Professor Samanta commended the students for their exceptional work, emphasizing the event as a celebration of innovation and creativity within the university community.
