RIT Kosovo Advances AI Governance Through the National Security and Innovation Consortium
RIT Kosovo was honored to host the Artificial Intelligence Policy Validation Workshop, organized through the National Security and Innovation Consortium (NSIC) in partnership with the American Academy of Technology (AATT) and supported by the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP).
The workshop brought together senior government officials, representatives of security institutions, state agencies, academia, industry, and international partners to validate policy recommendations and discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence governance, innovation, and national security in Kosovo and Albania.

The event was opened by Dr. Albina Balidemaj-Basha, President of RIT Kosovo, who reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering collaboration between academia, government, industry, and strategic partners in addressing the opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies.
RIT Kosovo was also honored to welcome the Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Mr. Lulëzon Jagxhiu, and the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Mimoza Kusari-Lila. Both ministers emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative and highlighted the concrete steps Kosovo’s institutions are taking to advance digital transformation, innovation, and responsible AI governance.

The workshop benefited from the active participation and valuable contributions of representatives from ministries, security institutions, independent state agencies, academia, the private sector, and other key stakeholders. Their expertise and recommendations will play an important role in strengthening the policy framework and supporting the development of Kosovo’s AI ecosystem.

Through the National Security and Innovation Consortium (NSIC), RIT Kosovo, in partnership with AATT and SCSP, is building a collaborative platform that connects academia, government, industry, and security institutions to strengthen strategic policymaking, institutional capacity, and innovation in emerging technologies across Kosovo and Albania.

The initiative is led by Brigadier General (Ret.) Xhavit Gashi, Director of Development at RIT Kosovo and Senior Regional Coordinator of the project, together with the dedicated NSIC team, whose professionalism, leadership, and commitment were instrumental in the successful organization of this important event.
