RIT Kosovo (A.U.K.) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Valon Shkodra as a new faculty member.
Dr. Shkodra was born in Prishtina and earned his PhD in Cultural Heritage in Kosovo from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Art Studies in Tirana, and pursued Master’s exchange studies at the University of Turku, Finland, supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus Mundus program.
He has extensive experience in the field of ethnology and cultural heritage, having worked for a decade at the Ethnological Museum of Prishtina and currently serving as a Scientific Associate at the Institute of Albanology in Prishtina. His research has been published widely in national and international journals, and he has participated in numerous conferences on folklore, ethnology, and cultural heritage.
Dr. Shkodra is the author of several significant publications, including The Ethnological Museum of Prishtina and Its Function (2019), Traditional Handcrafts of Kosovo (2022), The Cultural Heritage of Kosovo in Postcards (2023), and The Museums of Kosovo - Guides to Our Identity (2025).
He also contributes to the advancement of ethnological scholarship through his editorial roles at Albanological Research – Folklore and Ethnology Series and the Journal of Kosovo Music and Culture.
At RIT Kosovo, Dr. Shkodra will share his deep knowledge and passion for cultural studies, encouraging students to explore Kosovo’s rich ethnological heritage and its connection to identity, history, and modern society.
