From Pasture to Plate: Life Cycle of Cheese

RIT graphic design students used their creativity to illustrate the complex life cycle of cheddar cheese in an engaging way. 

“From Pasture to Plate” is an animation they created for the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP21). The motion design takes viewers on a whimsical journey that educates how cheese starts in the soil and ends up in refrigerators everywhere. 

The project was completed by Command+g, RIT’s student-run design studio. Graphic design students Michelle Fu ’26, Jami Murillo ’27, and Ashley Persia ’26 completed the project for NYSP21, who strives to make New York State more sustainable for workers, the public, the environment, and the economy through pollution prevention. The institute is led by Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT.

Associate Professors Keli DiRisio, undergraduate program director of graphic design, and Carol Fillip serve as the Command+g advisor.
