Action Required for Enrollment
Open Enrollment is an active enrollment this year. All benefits-eligible employees must complete Open Enrollment in Workday to select medical, dental, and/or vision coverage for 2027.
You must select or waive medical, dental, and/or vision coverage. Your current elections will not automatically continue for 2027.
Why active enrollment?
This year, RIT is requiring that employees actively confirm their medical, dental, and/or vision elections rather than automatically carrying them forward. The goal is to make sure you understand your coverage, what it costs, and whether your current plans are still right for you.
Taking the time to compare your options can help you avoid paying for coverage you may not need and choose the level of coverage that best fits your circumstances.
What's New in 2027
Changes are being made to RIT’s medical plans in 2027. All benefits-eligible employees must log in to Workday to enroll in or waive medical, dental, and/or vision coverage for 2027.
The amount you pay when you receive medical care will change for some plans in 2027. This includes changes to copays, deductibles, and the most you’ll pay out of pocket during a plan year.
Health care costs continue to rise nationally, contributing to the cost of RIT’s medical plans for 2027. RIT will absorb most of the increase to help limit the impact on employees.
Medical plan costs will increase for employees in 2027. Your cost will depend on the plan you choose and who you cover.
Wegmans will discontinue their copay reduction in 2027. Employees can still fill prescriptions at Wegmans or use its home delivery service. Prescriptions filled at Wegmans follow the same copays as other participating pharmacies, giving employees the flexibility to choose where they fill their prescriptions.
Beginning in 2027, GLP-1 medications prescribed for weight loss will no longer be covered under RIT's plan. Coverage will continue for GLP-1 medications prescribed for other covered diagnoses.
If you or a covered family member currently uses a GLP-1 medication for weight loss, talk with your health care provider about alternative options and manufacturer-sponsored programs that may be available, including LillyDirect, NovoCare, and TrumpRx.
A new Medicare support benefit is available through Brown & Brown, at no cost to employees and adjunct employees. Whether you're navigating Medicare for yourself or helping a spouse, partner, or aging parent, Brown & Brown's licensed Medicare specialists can provide personalized guidance to help you understand your options while making informed coverage decisions. This benefit is available year-round, not just during Open Enrollment.
Rates
Medical costs continue to rise nationwide, affecting both employees and employers. RIT will continue to fund the majority of medical premium costs.

Vision Insurance
Through VSP Vision Care, RIT provides affordable vision benefits, including eye exams, lenses and frames. There are no changes to the plan designs or employee contributions for 2027.
How the Plan Works with Participating Providers
- A $15 copay for routine eye exams.
- A $150 allowance for frames or contact lenses each calendar year.
- Full coverage for standard lenses after a $20 copay (covers single vision, bifocals, progressive, etc.)
- A $150 allowance toward contact lens evaluation and purchase, plus a 15% discount on fittings before the allowance applies.
- Discounts on upgraded frame options.
- Specialized coverage through the VSP Diabetic Eyecare Plus Program for members with specific eye health conditions.
If you are enrolled in POS A, POS B or POS D, your plan covers routine eye exams with a copay.
- You can visit any eye doctor, even if they are not a VSP provider, by showing your medical ID card.
- After the exam, you may take your prescription to a VSP provider to purchase eyeglasses or contact lenses.
- Reminder: In-network providers are the most affordable option and help you get the best value from your plan.
