Bio

Dr. Samanta works as Program Head and Assistant Professor at the Department of Computing and Information Technologies, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), Rochester Institute of Technology – RIT Global Campus, Kosovo, Europe. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engg. from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India, in SAR Image Processing. He is keenly interested in Interdisciplinary Research and development. He has experience spanning fields of SAR Image Analysis, Video surveillance, a Heuristic algorithm for Image Classification, Deep Learning Framework for Detection and Classification, Blockchain, Statistical Modelling, Wireless Adhoc Networks, and Natural Language Processing. He has completed six Consultancy Projects. Under his guidance, four students have accomplished their Ph.D. degrees. He has received funding of 8,110 USD under the Open Access, Publication fund. He received funding under the International Travel Support Scheme in 2019 for attending the conference in Thailand. He has received a Travel Grant to speak at conferences, seminars, etc. for two years from July 2019. He owns 22 Patents (4 Design Indian Patents and 2 Australian patents Granted, 16 Indian Patents published) and 2 copyrights. He has authored and co-authored over 248 research papers in an international journal (SCI/SCIE/ESCI/Scopus) and conferences including IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier Conference proceedings. He received “Scholastic Award” at the 2nd International Conference on Computer Science and IT Application, CSIT-2011, Delhi, India. He is a co-author of 13 books and the co-editor of 18 books, available for sale on Amazon and Flipkart. He has presented various papers at international conferences and received Best Paper awards. He is the author and co-author of 15 Book Chapters. He also serves as acquisition editor for Springer, Wiley, CRC, Scrivener Publishing LLC, Beverly, USA, and Elsevier. He is an IEEE Senior Member, an Associate Life Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI), and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He is a Convener, Keynote speaker, Session chair, Co-chair, Publicity chair, Publication chair, Advisory Board, and Technical Program Committee member in many prestigious International and National conferences. He has invited speakers at several Institutions.

ISTE-230
3 Credits
This course surveys the fundamental concepts and theories used in organizing and structuring data that arise in a wide range of contexts (e.g. lab sciences, economic, social services, computing system performance, environmental sustainability). Course topics include data organization theory, basic relational model theory, normalization theory, relational algebra, data quality, data integrity and security, and mapping a data model into a database schema. Students will learn how to construct and use databases while maintaining the security and integrity of data as well as develop AI literacy in the context of data model design, learning how to apply and critique Artificial Intelligence responsibly and ethically. Hands-on assessments are included in this course.
ISTE-340

This course will explore the analysis, design, development, and implementation of client-side programming in the context of Internet technologies, mobile devices, Web-based client systems and desktop applications. Students will learn to design and build usable and effective interactive systems, clients, and interfaces. Key features addressed will include browser and platform compatibility, object reusability, bandwidth and communications issues, development environments and architectures, privacy and security, and related technologies and APIs. Programming is required.
ISTE-341
3 Credits
This course provides in-depth work in server-side programming. Students will develop dynamic, data centric web pages and systems, and server-side information services that will be available to clients implemented in a variety of software technologies. Topics include XML parsing, generation, and consumption; web configuration and security; design patterns; web service structures, and application security. Programming projects are required.

Students perform paid, professional work related to their program of study. Students work full-time during the term they are registered for co-op. Students must complete a student co-op work report for each term they are registered; students also are evaluated each term by their employer. A satisfactory grade is given for co-op when both a completed student co-op report and a corresponding employer report that indicates satisfactory student performance are received.

Students will learn a variety of leading edge computing technologies and create computing-based solutions to address organizational requirements using these technologies. This will include an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), contemporary hardware platforms, how they operate and interact with the components of the operating systems that drive them, and how to deliver these solutions using virtualization such as cloud computing. Ultimately the course is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students will develop an understanding of contemporary computing systems through practical assignments and projects that integrate the various aspects of contemporary computing.

Quality software designs and architectures reflect software engineering principles that represent best contemporary practice. This course focuses on explicating these fundamental principles, examining a set of design and architecture patterns that embody the principles, and applying patterns appropriate to a design problem in a given context. Restricted to IST majors only.
