An early sunset didn’t deter the large crowd gathered at the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House and the surrounding neighborhood for the RIT Big Shot on Sunday. The community came together to shine a light on voting rights and equal rights as part of the annual photography project hosted by RIT.

RIT’s Big Shot will be shining a light on voting rights and equal rights at the photo project’s next location. On Sunday, Nov. 6, the team plans to illuminate the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House.

Intersections: The RIT Podcast, Ep. 61: It all started in 1987 with a community project, a handful of faculty, and 37 students. Now, the RIT Big Shot is a larger campus tradition than anyone anticipated. Michael Peres, Gannett Chair in the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences, talks with Dan Hughes, lecturer in SPAS, and Eric Kunsman, assistant professor in visual communication studies, who will lead the Big Shot into the future.

The chance to capture an illuminated image of “Wallace on Ice” drew more than 300 people inside Frank Ritter Ice Arena Saturday night to help make RIT’s first-ever interior Big Shot photograph a resounding success.

Rochester, N.Y.’s notable histories as the birthplace of the women’s rights movement and photography will come together for RIT’s Big Shot next month. Organizers of the longtime community photographic project will capture a dramatic nighttime image of the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, 17 Madison St., and surrounding neighborhood on March 22.
