Workday Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB)

A Workday Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) is a tool that allows users to efficiently load certain high-volume data into Workday using a standardized spreadsheet template. Rather than entering records one at a time, approved users can prepare data in a pre-formatted file and upload it in a single process.

EIBs provide a secure and controlled method for bulk data entry, helping improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and minimize data entry errors. They are particularly useful when working with high-volume transactions or updates that would be time-consuming to enter individually.

The resources below include templates and job aids for approved EIB processes available at RIT.

Accounting Journal EIB

The Accounting Journal EIB is available for users who regularly need to upload large accounting journals into Workday. Rather than entering journal lines manually, users can prepare journal data in a standardized spreadsheet template and upload it directly to Workday.  An Accounting Journal EIB is typically used for complex, high‑volume, or recurring journal activity and relies on Workday‑specific reference IDs to load data accurately into the system

As a general guideline, journals with more than 50 lines are good candidates for the EIB process. For smaller journals, direct entry in Workday is typically the more efficient option.

Use the template and job aid below to prepare and upload accounting journals through the EIB process.
