Together with the Department of Performing Arts and Visual Culture, the Department of History offers a degree in Museum Studies, where students interested in a career in history may choose to study Public History.

Public History prepares students to work in such settings as history museums, historic sites and houses, national parks, natural history museums, historical societies, and science museums.

Graduates may find jobs in a wide variety of fields, including museums, archives, historical consulting, heritage tourism, and historic preservation.
