Casual Conversations

Casual Conversations With Deaf and Hard of Hearing People – Youtube Series

Hands & Voices is an organization that supports parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, so it recognizes the presence of Deaf and Hard of Hearing role models as a critical part of the personal and professional development of Deaf youth. Morpheyes worked in collaboration with Hands & Voices on a grant to introduce young Deaf kids with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields to Deaf adults working in those same industries. The result was a 7-episode video series that includes a NASA engineer, a cybersecurity expert, an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeon, a molecular biologist, and a forensic scientist. While each interview discusses their respective fields, they also explore the variety of the Deaf experience, including potential challenges and positive elements of being Deaf or Hard of Hearing and navigating different kinds of access needs in the workplace. Videos were produced with total accessibility using audio, captions, ASL, and cued speech.
