I wasn’t very confident in communicating when I was younger, but through each co-op experience I became more comfortable. I learned how to navigate different situations, overcome language barriers, and pick up new technical skills on the job.

Yang Sherpa
I got to learn about the behind the scenes that goes into training algorithm as well as AI.

Find an internship that aligns with your major and career interests. Doing so will help you grow your skills and give you meaningful, hands-on experience.
Applied Science / Applied Computer Technology
Hayden Blecher
I would advise other students to listen carefully to their supervisors and take in what they teach, as you can often learn more from hands-on experience than from online resources or classes.
Industrial Design
Emily Ohl
Even if you don’t think you’ll need them, request accommodations. Having those supports in place makes a difference. If that’s not possible, don’t be afraid to be vocal about your deafness—sometimes you need to be very clear so hearing people understand.
Graphic Design
Oliver McKown
My VCS program at NTID taught me the basics I needed - graphic design, typography, Adobe software, page layouts, production work, raster and vector graphics, Illustrator, Photoshop, and how to prototype and visualize end goals.
Cybersecurity
Hayden Orr
My co-op allowed me to expand my skill set beyond the cybersecurity courses I’ve taken. While software development was different from my classes, I chose this co-op to broaden my knowledge and explore new areas.
Biomedical Sciences and Applied Spanish Language
Ellie Warren
My coursework in basic biology, chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology prepared me to read academic publications and understand my research projects more fully.
Applied Computer Technology
Denard Johnson
Computer technology is a highly demanded area so I have a good foundation from RIT/NTID to do well in my career and in life.
