The Next Big Idea™ Lite is an annual innovation competition at RIT/NTID sponsored by ZVRS. As with NTID’s Next Big Idea competition, for the Next Big Idea Lite, students will be asked to present an early-stage product or service with foreseeable commercial impact. Presenters have up to 3 minutes to pitch an idea to our judges. Your product or service will be judged based on uniqueness, feasibility, and the type of impact it could have. The goal of the Next Big Idea Lite competition is to spark your inspiration for the Next Big Idea competition coming in 2021

- March 25: Submit your final presentation/videos
- March 30: Final round presentation through webinar on Zoom and Facebook
General Rules and Guidelines
A one-day mini-version of the Next Big Idea, designed to spark inspiration. Eligible contestants have up to 3 minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of judges. Audience members can join if you’d like to watch the event.
1) The competition is open to all RIT/NTID-supported students* who are full-time matriculated undergraduate or graduate students and who are registered for classes during the 2020-2021 academic year. Entrants can have no academic, judicial or financial holds.
- The ways in which this idea is unique and what problem it seeks to solve or gap in the marketplace it seeks to fill.
- A description of your target market - inclusive of who potential consumers and/or users would be and what value your venture would add to their lives.
- Any potential challenges to delivering this product or service.
- Introduction-Tell us about your idea and how you came up with it.
- Problem-Explain what kind of problem your idea is intended to solve.
- Idea-Elaborate more on your idea and what makes it great. Be creative and have fun!
Proposals will be evaluated based on their uniqueness, feasibility and their potential to impact people.
3) Submissions must be the original idea of the contestants and must not be in violation of copyright laws.
4) Submissions should not include racial slurs, sexist remarks, profanity or other inappropriate content.
