Marie Philip School (MPS) our Pre-K -12+ day school, enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham campus. We are proud of our history as the first school in the United States to have adopted the ASL/English bilingual, bicultural model in a K-12 educational setting. MPS offers a full range of academics, including Honors and Advanced Placement courses, along with vocational training courses as well as intensive classes for students who have learning disabilities or developmental disabilities.

This School Psychologist will serve students at the Marie Philip School in addition to participating in the reevaluation process for Walden School students. Marie Philip School is an ASL/English bilingual, bicultural school in a PreK-12 educational setting with nearly 200 students.

Supervisor: Director of Student Services and Senior School Psychologist

Functions and Responsibilities:

Select and administer age-appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student during initial evaluations and reevaluations
Provide clinical consultation with parents, teachers, other on-campus evaluators including behavior analysts, speech-language pathologists, occupational/physical therapists, and reading specialists, in addition to outside agencies as appropriate
Function as a member of the school’s multidisciplinary team to determine a student’s eligibility for services and appropriate programming and classroom recommendations, in addition to monitoring the student’s ongoing progress
Work as a member of the interdisciplinary School Clinical Team to assist other team members (including school counselors, clinical social workers, and behavior analysts) in understanding the student’s diagnostic profile and the implications this profile has for working with the student in all areas of his/her life
Caseload may also involve some counseling and/or social skills groups
Implement anti-racist principles and practices throughout all aspects of programming and interactions
Implement anti-racist principles and practices in counseling and within social-emotional supports including sensitivity to the varied students’ multicultural identities and diverse needs.

Requirements

An advanced degree from a NASP or APA accredited college or university in school psychology, psychology
Massachusetts DESE licensure as a school psychologist (or ability to obtain licensure within a specified period)
Effective communication including fluency in American Sign Language and strong written English skills.
Cultural sensitivity to the developmental and cultural needs of Deaf and hard of hearing children and adolescents
At least one year of clinical experience is preferred
