TITLE: Facility and Security Attendant
POSITION STATUS: Full Time - Permanent (Non-Union)
SCHEDULE: 40 hours – including evenings, overnights, and
weekends (flexibility required)
REPORTS TO: Facility Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED) is a
provincial leader in the Deaf community. Our mission is to provide care and
opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Facilities & Security Attendant is
responsible for providing and ensuring a safe, secure, healthy, comfortable
and pleasant environment both within the facility and exterior of facility.
PRIMARY DUTIES
• Control access to the facility, primarily via the front entrance, and
ensure other entrances are secure
• Conducts and manages screening of entrants, specifically as it relates to
the COVID-19 pandemic, or as otherwise instructed
• Patrol and monitor interior and exterior of the facility.
• Address unauthorized access, failed screening, facility
protocols/mandates, and refer to appropriate staff person
• Enforce and uphold security measures to protect property and people from
theft, vandalism, fire.
• Respond to inquiries and address staff, resident and visitor concerns
within the facility for/with clients
• Actively engage in a process of quality improvement within the Facilities
Department
• Participate in the organization’s quality management program
• Attend meetings and participates in committee work as required
• Meaningfully contribute to special projects of the Facilities Department,
and support Facilities staff with the timely completion of work plan
objectives
• Inspecting, testing and maintain the security systems in place at BRCCED
• Maintains proper documentation, completing required incident reporting,
• Make recommendations to enhance the security systems at BRCCED
• Issue passes to visitors and contractors, in order to be identified when
inside the facility
• Assesses existing and new systems, programs and procedures to ensure
compliance and efficiency
• Perform daily checks of the facility’s operating systems, including
(but not limited to) fire alarm system, sprinkler/fire suppression system,
HVAC, natural gas
• Alert authorities, as needed, to respond to emergencies or to address a
breach of security
• Act as point person for emergency service personnel, in their response to
various on-site emergencies
QUALIFICATIONS
• Successful completion of Grade 12
• Possess at least 3 years of related work experience
• Licensure as a security guard preferred
• Experience with loss prevention, security systems, and/or emergency
response is considered an asset
• CPR and First-Aid certified an asset
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• High degree of planning and organizational skills
• Effective and proven time management skills
• Possesses or is willing to obtain Occupational Health and Safety
Certifications
• Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
• Respects the goals, philosophy and objectives of the organization
• Strong communication skills
• Position may transfer to different locations based on business needs
• American Sign Language (ASL) and/or knowledge of Deaf culture is an
asset.
• French language/LSQ an asset
