POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Communication and Access is a leadership role responsible for managing the quality provision of interpreting services for all TLC programs (Access), and the staff and community ASL Classes (Communication).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritize the reduction of bias and lead to ensure consistent commitment and action toward becoming an equitable and anti-racist department within the organization.
Develop, communicate and update interpreter and ASL department policies and procedures.
Supervise, support, develop and evaluate department staff
Set agendas, provide reports and conduct regular department meetings.
Oversee all functions of contracted interpreter and community and staff ASL services.
Develop and maintain fiscally responsible Departmental budgets.
Work with the Executive Team to assess program effectiveness, and develop goals for continued growth and development.

Requirements

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a community-based interpreter.
Near-native fluency in American Sign Language
Written communication at sufficient levels to ensure effective and appropriate communication and report writing.
Masters Degree, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years leadership experience
Experience supervising employees
Collaborative and inclusive leadership style
RID Certified, E.I.P.A. and experience mentoring interpreters- preferred.
