Student Social Media Assistant for Dept of Liberal Studies

Essential Tasks:

· The RIT/NTID Department of Liberal Studies (DLS) is looking for a Student Social Media Assistant to support the department’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter.

· This position involves working closely with the Social Media Committee and the department’s Senior Staff Assistant, in a department with 24 faculty/staff, on a variety of social media tasks and projects.

· Primary tasks include: creating and editing announcements, flyers, photos, and videos for social media posts; developing and maintaining a department social media handbook; taking photos of people and places on campus, particularly the department faculty/staff and students; working with the social media committee to promote student engagement; and participating in weekly meetings with the social media committee.

· This position may also help monitor the department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and be involved in reviewing analytics to assess success and recommend future improvements, including the development of strategies to increase followers and engagement.

· Other duties as assigned.

• Strong knowledge and experience in the area of social media.
• Excellent signing and writing communication skills.
• Experience with design software. (Experience designing social media graphics is desired, but not required).
• Ability to work independently, is flexible, and willing to learn different routines and tasks.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with faculty/staff and student assistants in the department.
• Committed to creating an environment that embraces all students, faculty, and staff.
• Knowledge and experience in the area of digital marketing is desired, but not required.
• Experience writing image descriptions (ID) and alt-text is an asset, but not required.
• Ability to report hours using Kronos.
• Open to undergraduate or graduate students.

Required Knowledge of: Zoom, MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT); Canva or other design program; iMovie or other movie editors; Dropbox. Experience with video captioning is a plus.
