Alumni Gathering at Buffalo RiverWorks

On June 2, Sara Smania, assistant director of RIT/NTID Alumni Relations’ mentoring program, hosted an alumni gathering at Buffalo RiverWorks in Buffalo, New York, where fellow alumni met and socialized with new and old friends and learned more about programs and engagements.

When Eric Cardenas ’09 (applied computer technology), ’14 (sociology and anthropology) received scholarships for college, he chose to attend RIT/NTID to obtain a career-focused education and contribute to the Deaf community. Now a proud RIT/NTID graduate, Cardenas is an American Sign Language educator, committed to providing accessible education and inclusive communication between deaf and hearing worlds. 

As a business team leader at the company’s Pennsylvania plant, Trauger oversees operations on the cab-over line, where the refuse collection trucks are assembled, with a focus on safety, quality, and delivery.

The NTID Alumni Association is pleased to announce the three new board members: Meredith Lipman, Jerald Cohen, and Doug Baker. 

RIT/NTID alum Kayley Judd ’25 demonstrated notable achievements throughout her academic journey. Judd was a student leader who advocated for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, served as a mentor for fellow students, and organized STEM-related events and conferences to inspire the next generation of engineers and empower women.
